math tips - how to be amazing at math ! ✎ᝰ.ᐟ⋆⑅˚₊
hiii welcome to my second blog post on this blog! (check out my other blogs...they are retired but hey why not ? do it for the good memories)
this blog post is covering math. if you struggle with math or it just isn't ur thing, here are some tips and tricks and how to get better !
i myself don't like math that much but i am pretty good at it. plus, even if you hate math it gets to be pretty fun once you understand the topic and how to do it, because the more u practice the more speedy u get at solving it and it feels kind of fun!
but in order to get to this point, we have to actually understand it. so let's get into our tips.
- find a strategy that works for you / what helps you remember
math is basically just one topic that usually has a few different strategies to use to find out the solution. find one that works for you.
for example, if you are a person that learns better with visuals, use a strategy that involves drawing an area model or a table or something like that.
also, just any sort of silly thing that helps you remember the procedures.
2. GO BACK TO THE BASICS
what do i mean by this? well, imagine yourself as a little kid, when you were in third grade, learning multiplication facts. now think back to the future when you are doing much more complicated math than simple memorizable facts like 5 x 2. everything goes back to when you were little. math builds on top of each other. addition and subtraction facts that you learned in kindergarten that seemed so confusing then are now extremely easy for you to do in mere seconds. same thing with multiplication facts, long division, fractions, exponents, ratios....and so on. so if you're having trouble with something: go back to the basicsss and re-learn lessons from past years that you are struggling with because trust me it makes all the difference and makes it go by soo much faster and easier!
3. ask for help
i know it sounds simple and you've probably heard it a billion times, but asking for help is essential. you can ask a fellow classmate, your desk partner, or your friend for help, but asking the teacher is the best method ofc. when they explain what mistake you made, it all becomes clear and you will realize what you were doing wrong. it's as easy as that !
go above and beyond just doing the homework as best as you can and then turning it in (even if u could probably do better). if you know you don't really get the homework, take some extra time to reach out to ur teacher or professor because if they are nice, in their free time, they might actually sit down and talk it out with you and help you understand / see what you're missing if you didn't have time to ask them while the class was actually happening.
other things you can do is practice math problems (for example, use websites like ixl to practice. i know everyone hates ixl but it does give really good practice and has many different grade levels.).
you can also watch youtube videos (there are probably many math channels out there . just search for the topic / lesson / strategy you are learning) on the subject.
5. review missed questions
last but not least, make sure to look over math hw, quizzes, and tests to see what questions you got incorrect. when you do this, you can also go one step beyond and use chatgpt or gemini and ask them to create a similar problem to it and see if you can solve that one. if you can, great! now you see what you have done wrong. if you can't, look over that problem once more or you can ask the bot to provide another, easier one with hints or something like that.
okay that was it for this blog post! tysm for reading!!!! comment below what other posts you want to see on here!
